Unique World has partnered with The Africa World Documentary Film Festival


 

Unique World Entertainment is proud to serve as a partner with the Sixth Annual Africa World Documentary Film Festival (AWDFF) to be held at the Missouri History Museum on March 1-3, 2013 and again in St. Louis, Missouri at Saint Louis University (SLU) on April 8-12, 2013. In addition to the Mama Africa special event, there will be films from Israel, the Sudan and Rwanda covering a whole host of topics, from 1940's African American Women's clubs in Missouri native Rodney Thompson' My Mother's Club to the controversial "I Am Gay and Muslim."

Panel Discussion

 
 
Dr. Nathan Grant, editor of The African American Review, will be moderating a panel discussion about Miriam Makeba which will commence at 3pm at the Missouri History Museum on Saturday, March 3, 2013. Dr. Grant will be joined by director Mika Kaurismaki, Dr. Stephen Casmier, Dr. George Ndege, Dr. Jonathan Smith, Dr. Olubukola Gbadgesin from Saint Louis University and Dr. Ruth Iyob from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. After the panel discussion, the screening of the Miriam Makeba documentary, Mama Africa will take place. This event is free to the public.

'I Am Zenzi" Workshop




Tara Robinson of The Victorious Life Arts Education Group will be conducting an interactive workshop entitled, "I Am Zenzi" based on the life and legacy of the legendary South African singer and activist, Miriam Makeba.
